On June 4 we asked Eric Torgersen, the local building inspector, to walk through our house so we would know what needed to be completed in order to receive a certificate to occupy. Scott and I basically knew what would be on the list, but it was good to have an actual document enumerating these items:
* Lay a 3-foot by 3-foot landing outside each door.
* Complete all exterior electrical.
* Fir out all thresholds.
* Complete the kitchen counter.
* Finish the kitchen plumbing.
* Install electrical plates on the receptacles and cover the wires at the window seat.
If someone were to ask, “What did you do this summer?” all we would need to do is to hand them Eric’s list.
